Objectives of ICT Unit

To provide expertise and services on application of ICT to the Council.

The Unit perform the following activities:-  

• Acquire/ develop, maintain and update software system;
• Establish and maintain LAN and WAN;
• Provide trouble shooting services to all Council computer accessories;
• Design and enforce system security;
• Facilitate e-Government and e-Business operation;
• Develop data sharing policy in the Secretariat;
• Manage IT system;
• Undertake studies and propose areas of using IT as an instrument to improve service delivery in the Council;
• Install and upgrade the database servers and application tools;
• Allocate system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems;
• Create primary database storage structures (table space) for different designed applications;
• Modify database structures as recommended by application;
• Manage and review MIS specifications and service contracts.
• Promote Information sharing, transparency and accountability within the
• Council and towards the general public
• Promote efficient communication among the Council’s staff and stakeholders
• Ensure the uninterrupted functioning of those manual and automated information systems and information networks crucial to the Council’s operation
• Ensure development and maintenance of ICT systems
• Prevent the intentional or unintentional destruction of information
• Developing ICT policies and standards.
